About Me
Hello, I am Jill Butterfield - MSc, BA(Hons), Dip Couns, HPD, MNCH(Reg), GMBPsS. My journey into psychological therapy began in 2002, when I first became involved in delivering critical incident stress management (CISM) debriefs for crews in Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service. Since then, I’ve continued to grow and develop my professional practice, gaining extensive experience across the public, private and voluntary sectors.
I hold a master’s degree in psychology which confers on me Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society, a Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling and CBT, a Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy and I am also an EMDR Practitioner. My integrative approach blends all my modalities, allowing me to offer a truly personalised service to each client I work with.
I believe therapy should never be one-size-fits-all. The more tools I have in my therapeutic toolkit, the better I can respond to the individual needs, pace, and goals of each person I support. Bespoke isn’t just a buzzword — for me, it’s a commitment to offering the right support, in the right way, at the right time.

EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful, evidence-based therapy designed to help individuals process and recover from traumatic experiences. It works by helping the brain reprocess distressing memories so they are no longer emotionally overwhelming. EMDR does not require you to talk in detail about the trauma — instead, it focuses on shifting how the memory is stored in the brain, reducing its emotional impact.
This approach is particularly effective for people living with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), but it can also be helpful for anxiety, phobias, and other emotional difficulties rooted in distressing life events.
EMDR is recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) for the treatment of PTSD and trauma, making it a trusted and respected option for those looking to move forward from the past.
Each 50-minute session of EMDR costs £120

Testimonials
I wanted to reach out to say thank you for yesterday. You were absolutely lovely and I felt really confident after talking with you that staff would get a lot out of meeting with you. I have had some positive feedback from colleagues from the group session this morning who noted there were lots of tears, lots of laughs and that it was as positive as that sort of experience could be. They really welcomed the offer and opportunity to have your support.
I just wanted to express our thanks to you for absolutely going over and above to meet the needs of the team after the loss of their colleague in the last few weeks. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, not only for the delivery of support, but also from my point of view the ease of planning and your organisation has been nothing short of amazing.
